Gary MacDermid, a name familiar to Amazon Prime audiences worldwide, is making waves again. Known for his compelling appearance in Season 3, Episode 4 of Speak UP, MacDermid is adding “author” to his remarkable resume – and is set to release his much-anticipated book Set Your Goals, or Someone Else Will: How to Overcome Self-Limiting Beliefs and Get Things Done.
Gary MacDermid is a retired Naval Officer, professional engineer, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. He started his journey in the Navy right after high school and worked his way up from modest beginnings. Early in his Navy career, he learned the importance of passive income, inspiring him to develop a portfolio of properties in the U.S. and abroad.
This spark of inspiration laid the foundation for his evolution from “Electrical Engineer to Cash Flow Engineer.” After earning a scholarship and completing his electrical engineering degree, Gary served as a Naval Officer. He later transitioned into the private sector, applying his analytical skills to nuclear power plant designs.
During his early Navy days, Gary received advice from a Master Chief to consider purchasing a house at each duty station. This approach helped him build a portfolio of properties, contributing to his eventual transition from military service “Electrical Engineer to Cash Flow Engineer.”
After earning a scholarship to study electrical engineering and serving as a Naval Officer, Gary went on to apply his skills in nuclear power plant design. However, his passion for real estate and financial freedom soon took center stage. Today, as the founder of USA Private Equities, Gary empowers others to create wealth and live life on their terms.
Eventually, he channeled his efforts into real estate investments, founding USA Private Equities. Today, he dedicates himself to helping others achieve financial freedom and help fulfill their dreams.
A Book Offering a Fresh Perspective
MacDermid’s new book offers practical guidance and a structured approach to pursuing personal goals. Building on ideas shared during his Speak UP episode, where he discussed a 5-step formula for goal-setting, the book explores strategies for recognizing and addressing potential obstacles.
Gary’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. He candidly shares how he overcame a scarcity mindset instilled during childhood—rooted in beliefs like “money doesn’t grow on trees”—and embraced a mindset of abundance. By engaging with diverse perspectives and learning from others, he gained insights that helped him shape a more purposeful path forward.
“Life changed when I stopped following orders and started setting goals,” MacDermid shares. “This book is my way of helping others do the same.”
Beyond the book, Gary is co-producing a documentary, The Secret of Happiness, and spearheading entrepreneurial events in Arizona under the banner Business Minds Unite. These events aim to provide entrepreneurs with essential tools for success, from marketing to raising capital.
Gary’s story of transformation—rooted in overcoming a scarcity mindset instilled in childhood—resonates with anyone striving for personal growth. His message is clear: anyone can chart a course to success with the right mindset and strategic planning.
His story is one of transformation, perseverance, and breaking through limitations.
