Melissa Horbelt’s journey into real estate started with a desire to take control of her career. After years of working hard for others and realizing she was replaceable, she decided to bet on herself. Getting her real estate license and diving into a commission-based job was scary at first, but it turned out to be the best decision she ever made.

The real estate market is always changing. Melissa remembers a time when it was so busy that offers were being written on car roofs. Buyers had to be ready to offer way over the list price and skip contingencies. Now, the market has calmed down a bit, but there are still challenges, such as inventory shortages.
Melissa loves how real estate keeps her on her toes. She believes that by this time next year, there will be even more changes. To stay ahead, she invests a lot in training for herself and her team. They focus on keeping up with the National Association of Realtors (NAR) changes and learning about artificial intelligence (AI) to be ready for the future.
Looking ahead, Melissa sees a National Multiple Listing Service (MLS) becoming a reality. She also expects the market to get stronger in the next five to ten years, with interest rates likely dropping late this year or early next year. This should help with the inventory shortage. Plus, she believes the new construction boom will keep going, giving buyers and sellers more options.
Melissa’s love for real estate runs deep, and she wishes she had found it earlier in life. If she could change something about the industry, it would be to remove the fear clients and new agents often feel. She wants them to share her joy for the industry and see it as a positive and rewarding field.

Helping people achieve their lifelong dreams is Melissa’s favorite part of being a Realtor. The joy of seeing clients find their perfect home and knowing she played a part in their happiness is incredibly rewarding. This passion drives her to be the best version she can be.

Golfing, attending concerts, and visiting the dog park are some of their favorite activities.
